Welcome to Museum Østjylland




Museum Østjylland is a museum focusing on the history and culture of Randers and environs from the earliest times to the present.

Admission: The Museum Østjylland is free to all visitors.

The Museum is located in different places around Randers and Djursland:

Ebeltoft

Museum Østjylland, Det Gamle Rådhus
In the Townhall you find the guardroom, the courtroom, where the civil weddings since 1972 take place, the old livingroom from Mols and exhibitions dealing with the history of the town. In the basement you still find traces of the dungeons.

Museum Østjylland, Siamesisk Samling
The Siamese Collection is a considerable ethnographic collection from the old Thailand.

Ebeltoft Historical Archives
Ebeltoft Historical Archives collects photos, archival documents, newspapers and more connected to the city and the region's history. The archive covers the geographical area that formed Ebeltoft municipality prior to 2007.

Museum Østjylland, Farvergården

In the middle of the busy main street in Ebeltoft, you will find the charming Old Dyers Yard, where farmers in the region had their yarn and hand-woven clothes dyed.

Randers

Museum Østjylland, Randers
Here you can see Denmark's most modern Medieval exhibition, where kids can dress up as nuns, monks, noblemen, knights or cobblers.

Museum Østjylland, Håndværksmuseet
This is the place to get a glimpse of living craft history with fire in the forge, mortar on the trowel and paint on the brush. Some of the workshops are manned during opening hours.

Randers Local History Archive
Randers Local History Archive collects and preserves archival material from the geographical area that formed Randers before 2007. In the archive you can find personal and family history material, a large collection of photographs, local maps, property records, institution records and more.

Grenaa

Museum Østjylland, Grenaa
Visit the museum in the cosy merchant’s house in Grenaa. Here you can see prehistoric finds from Djursland and interior from the 18th and 19th centuries.
